Join other mental health providers for a retreat in the forest. The journey toward restoration will include a serene setting, gentle yoga outside under the sky and trees, guided meditations, mindful walking, access to a swimming pool, trails, and wholesome catered meals. A private massage in your room is also an add-on option. Form new relationships with fellow mental health providers and stay connected. Take home an applicable and realistic self-care plan for yourself. Continue growing your awareness of unsustainable practices and habits. Learn and earn 8 CEs in a beautiful room with large windows that allow in the sunlight and the view of the forest. This training equips mental health professionals with a comprehensive understanding of key concepts essential to trauma-informed care and self-care practices. Participants will learn to differentiate and apply foundational concepts such as Compassion Fatigue, Secondary Traumatic Stress, and Burnout, as well as trauma-informed management of transference and counter-transference.
The training highlights the client benefits and increased therapeutic effectiveness through self-compassion, boundary setting, and self-care plans. Additionally, participants will explore Polyvagal Theory and identify how neuroception influences clinicians and clients’ physical sense of safety or danger and impacts their behavior and emotional response to secondary trauma. By the conclusion of this training, participants will be equipped with a deeper understanding of how to improve clinical outcomes by preventing and mitigating Compassion Fatigue, Secondary Traumatic Stress, and Burnout, as well as empower clients with similar strategies for resilience and recovery.
Student Testimonials
This course is for independently licensed mental health clinicians. A copy of the participant's qualifying license must be submitted to the Training Portal in the Participant Agreement after registration. Registration is not complete until a copy of a current professional license has been received.
- Qualifying medical doctors must be licensed to practice in their state or province.
- Qualifying advanced practice registered nurses must have a Master of Science in Nursing (or higher) with a specialization in psychiatric mental health nursing and must be licensed to practice through their state board or province.
- Qualifying Mental Health Clinicians must have a master’s degree or above in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychiatry, Social Work) or related mental health discipline and be licensed to practice through their state board or province.
- Individuals who only hold a chemical dependency or substance abuse license are not eligible as these licenses generally do not allow for a mental health scope of practice.
EMDR Training Level: No prior EMDR training is required for this course.
Full attendance of the training portion of the retreat is required in order to receive Continuing Education Credit. Participants who arrive more than 15 minutes late at start of day / after breaks or leave more than 15 minutes early at end of day / before breaks will not receive credit. Participants must sign in and out at the beginning and end of each day.
If for some reason you cannot attend the retreat after registering and want to request a refund or credit, email us at drdaniellehiestand@gmail.com. In your email include the reason for the requested refund or credit. A full refund minus $100 processing fee will be given up to 2 months (March 1, 2025) prior to the start of the retreat (May 1, 2025) to those who submit a written request via email. After March 1, 2025 no refund or credit will be given unless your spot can be filled by someone on the wait list. If your spot can be filled, a full credit or refund minus a $100 processing fee will be given.

While Precision EMDR Academy and Danielle Hiestand go to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, there will be an occasional issue which requires intervention and/or action by staff. This procedural description serves as a guideline for handling such grievances.
A grievance is defined as any occurrence, situation, or condition that a participant thinks is improper, unfair, unjust, or inequitable. This policy provides participants with the opportunity to express a concern or complaint related to the quality of services. If you feel you have been treated unfairly, unprofessionally, or feel that your rights have been breached, please follow the procedures outlined below. Precision EMDR Academy and Danielle Hiestand, PsyD, LMFT will not retaliate against anyone for filing a grievance.
Resolutions are case specific and may include an attempt to move the participant to another training or consultation cohort, provide a credit for a subsequent training, or provide a partial or full refund of the training fee.
If you have a grievance about the retreat, lodgings, meals, or course materials send a grievance in writing to Danielle Hiestand. Grievances will be responded to within 5 business days. Emails should be sent to drdaniellehiestand@gmail.com.
If you have a grievance about CEs send a written grievance to the Director of Training at susie@precisionemdr.com. The Director of Training will initiate an investigation and provide an acknowledgment to you within two business days. If you do not receive acknowledgement within two business days, please contact the Director of Training by email or phone at 760-452-2776 to confirm your written grievance has been received. The Director of Training, Assistant Director of Training, Director of Professional Credentialing, Assistant Director of Professional Credentialing, Professional Credentialing Committee Chair, and Director of Community Connection will conduct a review of the matter and make recommendations for its resolution.
